Acronis Backup Trial installation failed on SQL Server 2005

Thread needs solution

I am trying to install the trial version to evaluate it, the installation appeared to be going well but then failed on the Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express Edition installation step. The error given was:

Internal error

Code: 06442528
Line tag: 0x8385a2tadaee6676
Message: Internal error

Suberror
Code: 0126
Line tag: 0xbd28fdbd64edb8bc
Message: The specified module could not be found

I was under the impression that the installer contained everything that it needed, now I am not sure how to proceed. Any help please?

PS.. installing on Windows Server 2003 R2 Enterprise Edition SP2

Hello Jonathan!

Welcome to our Forum, we're glad to greet you here! I understand your concern, and will do my best to assist you.

Unfortunately due to the lack of sufficient diagnostic it's hard to identify what exactly caused the installation failure, so this situation requires investigation. Please gather the following information:

  1. MSI log
  2. Windows System Information

After that please provide us with it or contact support directly with the information attached. Keep in mind that should there be any procrastination with the reply, you can always specify us the case number. We will do our best to speed up the process.

Should you need anything else or have any further questions - feel free to contact us at your earliest convenience, we will be happy to help you!

Thank you!

Thank you for your reply.

I tried following the instructions for generating the MSI log but when I click on View Log there isn't one, and in the instructions for manually creating the MSI log the SQL 2005 Server module (which is where the error happened originally) is not in the list to extract, so I cannot generate an error log file that way either.

It looks like the SQL 2005 module is completely missing from the trial installer that I downloaded from the Acronis website, and that this is the cause of the error.

Can I download and install SQL 2005 manually, then run the Acronis installer again and choose the existing SQL installation? If so, where would be the best place to download SQL 2005?

Thanks.

Hello Jonathan!

Thank you for your comment, and for keeping me posted, I appreciate it.

Your decision is very reasonable. Before you proceed with installation of the SQL, I'd advise you to reboot - you've ran a framework installation, and reboot may fix the problem faced.

In case the issue remains, please download Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express Edition from here, and proceed with the manual installation.

Please if possible keep me posted. This issue is important, and I'd like to guide it till its complete resolution.
