Restore fails - I'm being stupid - someone please point me the right way!
I've been backing up the wife's laptop to a 1 TB NAS using Home 2009 since the day the laptop was new. Periodically I'd check the log and make sure that the operation was running sucessfully. Never any error reports - a few missed days - but they may have coorolated to weekends out of town etc, regardless, the logs are lost with the failed hard disk from her laptop.
The hard disk was replaced, and I booted the system from the boot disc created and off we go doing our restore of the original image of the hard disk. That worked fine - however - the incremental backups report a corrupt file or a missing volume. Each of the missing volumes matches a directory name in the directory within which I saved her backup files on the NAS.
OK - the NAS is formatted in FAT32, so Acronis dealt with the 4 GB limit by splitting the backup file into 4 GB chunks and stored each of these chunks in a directory that was titled with the same incremental file name that would have been used had the backup file been less than 4 GB in size.
Try as I might - I can not cause Acronis to recgnize the files in these folder as tid data. Each of the files in these folders is a number (starting with 1 and continuing until no more are needed), but the files have no extension.
I'll settle for what I can get - my ideal would simple be able to run restore and have the program return her laptop to it's previous state. I'll settle for mount these incremental backup files, or exploreing them, and copying out the pictures and documents she want. I'm seriously open to suggestions

I must be lucky then. With TI 2011, I restored from anything I tried so far: disk imaging, non-stop backup, file backup, incremental, differential, full.. I didn't try the file splitting thing though.
I restored 5 times my Win 7 ultimate SSD system disk. Seems so easy that I don't bother cleaning up codec packs etc. I just restore the image.
Yes, the version has some quirks and bugs, but the core is working for me.
