VERY frustrated!!

Thread needs solution

I just purchased the true image plus pack with the intent of cloning my hard drive and moving it to a new computer with all new hardware. I now there are issues with the HAL file so that is why I got the plus pack. I can't not seem to find the proper procedure to do this. I can clone the hard drive & it works fine on the original computer but when I try on the new computer I get a blue screen that flashes by so fast you can't read anything, then tries to reboot again. Anyone have a step by step procedure to clone a hard drive for use with different hardware?

Well first off you don't clone the drive using the Pluspack to move it to a new computer. You make a an image backup if the existing drive and restore it on the new machine using the the universal restore feature. See http://kb.acronis.com/content/13671 for the process.

does this require 2 disks? Forgive me, I've been at this for 2 days and I'm probably missing the obvious. How do you create the image?

Hi Dave,

You need one disk in addition of your computers to store the backup on.
First thing is to try to ATI recovery media on your old and on your new computer. You need to be able to boot and to see your disks (target and backup disks) on both computers.
Then you backup your old computer with a complete disk image onto your backup disk.
FInally you restore on your new computer using the universal restore option. Thomasjk's link above is worth a thousand words.

You need to look at Grover's Index sections 3A for backup and restore guides http://forum.acronis.com/forum/3426. They are for earlier versions but the same principles still apply.
