WD20EARS Advanced Format drive and Acronis 11

Thread needs solution

Have just purchased a Western Digital WD20EARS 2TB Sata drive which has the Advanced Format on it.
I anticipate doing a clean install of WinXP SP3 and creating 9 partitions.
I already have Acronis 11.
Do I really need to download and use the Acronis WD version to be able to recover my cloned partitions onto this new drive?
WD's site is somewhat confusing on the correct way to do this!
Any help from anybody who has already done this would be very much appreciated!

When you say Acronis 11 do you mean 11 or 2011, or the actual WD version which is a special build of TIH 2009?

XP won't format your drive using 4K sectors so you wuld either need to use the jumper that I think WD provide on their EARS drives or use the WD alignment tool before installing XP.

Do you already have 9 partitions on your current drive?

If you are doing a clean install where does the 'cloning' come into it?

You won't be able to clone a partition - cloning only allows complete disks. You would be better off imaging the disk or partitions and then restoring them.

Are these 9 partitions all on one drive and do they belong to the same OS?
