True Image 25760 - Mac - exFat support

Thread needs solution

Lack of exFAT support should be listed under the "Known issues and limitations of this version" heading of the release notes.

That's actually a big deal, Catalina fully supports exFAT although it can be funny about the sectors, I have a number of exFAT partitions for compatibility reasons. True Image is not a complete solution for Mac and this needs to be sorted.

Thanks.

p.s. There is a bug in these forums where I cannot post links.
"You are not allowed to place hyperlinks inside the text, please, clear them."

I was going to post a link to the release notes, you'll just have to google them... sorry.
LOL and I marked my own post as "helpful" by mistake and I cannot undo it.

Lack of exFAT support should be listed under the "Known issues and limitations of this version" heading of the release notes.

This is documented clearly in the ATI 2020 for Mac User Guide

Supported file systems:

  • APFS
  • HFS+ (including Core Storage)
  • FAT32
  • NTFS (including Boot Camp)

You cannot back up data to a disk with an NTFS file system. However, you can recover data from a backup located on this type of file system.

Yes it is documented clearly. As I stated I was trying to post a hyperlink to it.

Let me repeat what I stated. Lack of exFAT support should be listed under the "Known issues and limitations of this version" heading of the release notes.

It is a big issue for a full backup solution. exFat must be supported and it isn't.
BTW the Windows version supports it, why not Mac?

Imagine buying a copy of Microsoft Word, only later to find out you can't save in rich text format, or you cannot print. When I complain, the developer states something like "Oh we have documented that rich text and printing is not supported", and then wash their hands of it.

Sorry documenting it this way is not good enough. This is known a limitation.
Even better fix it so we have it.

Alex, you are preaching to other users here not to Acronis!

Submit your feelings via the Feedback tool provided in the ATI GUI.

If you observe the original post a ticket has been created (you can even see the ticket number) which points to this very thread, and they've replied - they just state it isn't supported (we all know this). That entirely misses the whole point of this thread.

Hello Alex,

the release notes already show the list of supported file systems (under System requirements)  https://www.acronis.com/en-us/support/updates/changes.html?p=42019

I've documented a feature request based on your feedback (internal ID for reference TI-201088 Mac: support exFAT) Thank you!
