Why Sudden Fail Using VSS?

Thread needs solution

My backups suddenty stopped working after many weeks of flawless performance.  Error reports contained mention of Shadow Copy and file being used.  Support while remoting in  changed the Options under Advanced/Performance from VSS to Acronis Snapshot.  I have 2 backups, one to NAS and one to a USB drive.

Why did this failure suddenly occur?  Any ideas?  thanks

Robin, welcome to these public User Forums.

Sorry but too little information to work with here?

What version / build of ATI are you using here?  Is it ATI 2020 #25700 per this forum?

What version of Windows OS?

What are you backing up here?  Disks & Partitions or Files & Folders?

Have you downloaded & run the Acronis VSS Doctor tool and allowed it to fix any issues it detects?

Has anything specific changed with regards to either the Source for your backup tasks, or for the Destination location?

Please download the MVP Log Viewer tool (link in my signature below) and use this to review the log file for your backup operation. This should provide more information on why you are seeing any notification messages?

Does your backup run successfully with the change from VSS to the Acronis Snapshot method?

The solution may have been that the disk had to be repaired and then it started working again using the standard VSS configuration.
