Computer Will Not Boot From USB Drive: Older MB issue?

Thread needs solution

I have an older (10 year old PC i7) that still works well, but my CD/DVD drive is on it's way out. I tried over the years with my Acronis 18 version to have Acronis Boot from USB, but on this particular PC, it won't.

Should I create an Acronis Universal Restore USB, after a short pause on boot, it returns to the Windows logo screen, Meanwhile, the USB works fine on an older HP laptop, but only a few years newer than my desktop PC.

I tried the recommendations like using diskclean but that didn't help. As I said, I can boot with another laptop. My PC for whatever reason doesn't like booting from USB, only DVD or CD.

Are there any workarounds to be suggested?

It is unusual for a computer with an Intel i7 CPU to not be able to boot from USB media which suggests that this may be being caused by the BIOS settings on this system?

Look in the BIOS settings for Legacy USB support being enabled, plus if you have a very early implementation of UEFI on this computer, try disabling Secure Boot if it is enabled.

The next test is to try creating and booting from a Windows OS install USB stick which would show if this is related only to the Acronis media or is for all such media?

USB media should be less than 32GB in size due to limitations imposed by Microsoft for boot media where 32GB is the maximum size allowed.  It also should normally be using FAT32 format.
