Cannot boot into Acronis Rescue Media

Thread needs solution

I cannot boot anymore into the Acronis Rescue Media, which was created as part of Survival Kit on an external hard drive. I created another USB with Simple Option, but it does not work as well. One of the changes inbetween are that I inserted an empty M.2. SSD along with the SATA SSD, 2.5``.

My parameters: HP ProBook 440 G4, ATI 2020, Win 10x64, build 1909.

It looks like the boot from USB in UEFI mode is disabled (the same for both USB).

Here are the screenshots from the BIOS.

Walter, if your normal Windows 10 OS boot uses UEFI, then any rescue media used for recovery needs to use UEFI too, so you could disable the Legacy / CSM boot options in your HP BIOS.

UEFI is also required when you have any NVMe M.2 SSD card drives installed.

You would need to check further in your BIOS settings to determine why the UEFI USB boot option is shown as disabled, but first please ensure that you actually have a USB device plugged in to the PC and detected, i.e. your Acronis Survival Kit drive or other USB key with rescue media.

The solution was as simple as when you are in boot options and selected the usb you may enable/disable the boot (on HP by pressing F5). I wonder why it disabled by its own. The only thing could be that I inserted a new M.2 SSD.

Steve, I disabled Legacy Boot Order.

P.S. Please close the issue.

Walter, glad you have a solution here, thanks for the feedback.
