One Click Password???

Thread needs solution

I have backed up previously with One Click Protection.  Now however, it requests a password which it never did before.  The login to My Account password does not work for One Click Protection?

How do I resolve?

Hello CSU Ramdude,

Thank you for choosing Acronis Disk Backup Software.

Which version have you used to create this archive? Could you please let me know the build number of the product, which you can find in the Help -> About dialog (it should be a 3 or 4 digit number)?

Also, the possible cause is that Certain DLL components did not install properly.

Please do the following to resolve the issue:

  1. Uninstall Acronis True Image and all its components through Add or Remove Programs (Start -> Control Panel);

  2. Remove the /Program Files/Common Files/Acronis folder;

  3. Open Windows Registry Editor (Start -> Run -> regedit) and remove the following subkey:

    • Windows 32 bit: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Acronis
    • Windows 64 bit: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Acronis
    • (!) The subkey is Acronis. Do not attempt to remove the whole registry key.

  4. Reboot the machine;

  5. Reinstall Acronis True Image.

Please let us know the results!

We are looking forward to hearing back from you at your earliest convenience.

Thank you.

Even older versions of ATI sometimes requested a password when none have ever been created. Sometimes all you need to do is enter nothing and ATI dutifully compares that to the password (which was never created and so is null) and is satisfied. I think there is a chapter on this in the HitchHiker's Guide to the Galaxy ;)
