When running Consolidate Versions nothing occurs?
I've been trying to consolidate some backups that I've created and I can't get them to consolidate.
Using "Acronis True Image Home 2011, Update 1 (build 6597)"
I select my backup from "Acronis True Image Home" it's called "KINGSTON30_GIG2", and from the "Operations \/" dropdown menu, I select "More >" and then "Consolidate versions".
In the resulting window there is a list of my backups for the KINGSTON30_GIG2 backup and it looks like this:
Name | Created | Method | Path
* | KINGSTON30_GIG2 | 11/26/2010 12:52:01 AM | Full Backup | S:\My Backups\KINGSTON30_GIG2.tib |
KINGSTON30_GIG2(1) | 12/20/2010 11:20:56 AM | Incremental backup | S:\My Backups\KINGSTON30_GIG2(1).tib
KINGSTON30_GIG2(1)3 | 1/8/2011 11:22:31 PM | Incremental backup | S:\My Backups\KINGSTON30_GIG2(1)3.tib
KINGSTON30_GIG2(1)4 | 1/12/2011 11:25:05 PM | Incremental backup | S:\My Backups\KINGSTON30_GIG2(1)4.tib
* | KINGSTON30_GIG2(1)5 | 1/29/2011 11:03:32 AM | Incremental backup | S:\My Backups\KINGSTON30_GIG2(1)5.tib |
The way I thought this would work, would be to check the first Full Backup, and check the latest Incremental Backup (KINGSTON30_GIG2(1)5 | 1/29/2011), as the window asks you "which backups you would like to keep". This led me to believe that the result of running the Consolidate versions would leave me with just the first full backup and the latest Incremental Backup.
However with these backups selected to be kept, after clicking the "Next >" button and on the resulting screen clicking the "Proceed" button, I end up with exactly what I started with: nothing appears to be consolidated.
I've also tried the same procedure checking to keep just the last Incremental backup (which doesn't make any sense to me, but I figured I'd try it anyway), and I end up with the same result; no backups are consolidated. Am I missing something? Is there something else I need to do to consolidate the backups?
Thank you,
Andrew J. Leer

In the backup scheme, choose custom, then choose incremental as backup method, then set it to create a new full version after x incrementals, turn on auto-cleaning options that choose how you want to constrain your backup size.
Make sure you exit the backup options windows while the backup scheme tab is active. Otherwise you will lose the autocleaning settings (a known bug)
