Cloning from 1TB HD to 1TB SSD works but cloning "hangs" cloning SSD to HD ?

Thread needs solution

There were no problems cloning from a 1TB HD to a 1TB SSD, but the opposite direction hangs shortly after selecting the drives. Any ideas??

Richard, welcome to these public User Forums.

What version of ATI are you using here?  Is this ATI 2021 as per this forum or something else?

What type of PC is involved here?  Desktop / tower or laptop / notebook?

How are you doing the cloning here?
Are you booting from Acronis rescue media, or doing this from within Windows?

How long have you waited for the hang condition?

Hi Steve,

Thanks for helping. Here are answers to your questions:

ATI Version - ATI for Crucial (SSD's)  { Acronis True Image 2019. Build 21500 }

PC: HP Envy 750 / Intel Core i7-6700 CPU / 16GB Ram Installed / 64-bit Win 10 OS

Cloning Process ?:

1) Launch ATI for Crucial

2) Select "Clone Disk" / Automatic

3) Select 1 TB SSD as Source / Select 1TB HD as Target

4) Click "Proceed" / Screen says "Disk Cloning Progress" ... "Preparing" ... "Calculating time remaining:... HANGS !

Waited after Hangs for 6 hrs before "cancel"

Try to access Target Disk.... receive "Access is Denied"

Any help is appreciated.

Richard, can you please explain the first cloning process. Did you clone an existing HDD to a new Crucial SSD? Was this the system drive?

After that cloning, and you were left with two identical drives, did you replace the old HDD with the SSD and remove the old HDD?

Is the HDD destination the same as the original which was cloned? Has it been reinitialized?

Why are you trying to clone it now?

Richard,

By using the Crucial OEM version of ATI you face certain limitations imposed by the OEM themselves.  When cloning the destination disk for the restored image must be manufactured by the OEM.  If not then the clone will not work.  This is by design.
