TI2020 still takes a snapshot before backup?

Thread solved

Is it still true that TI2020 takes a rapid snapshot at the start of what's to be backed up, so that we can continue working without any subsequent activity affecting the backup, including automatic updates to other programs occurring during the backup? (I had a Symantec query asking if I wanted to allow MalwareBytes's latest update in the middle of a 13 hour backup of Entire PC, and clicked OK without thinking.)

I've seen replies on the pre-backup snapshot, here, from 6+ years ago, but have seen nothing about it in the 2020 Userguide or since 2014.

Answer appreciated, as always - paul

Paul, this is why Acronis uses the Microsoft VSS service for backup tasks to capture snapshot data for tasks.

Acronis has been using VSS as the preferred snapshot method since around 2015 but still have an option to use their older Acronis snapshot option as used in ATI 2014 and earlier versions.

So I take it that your implied answer to my question, Steve, is "Yes".

Many thanks - and sorry about the duplicate - Acronis sometimes seems to be quite slow - I guess everything goes back to israel to be recorded (and, incidentally, I'm convinced I was once the target of recruitment by Israeli Intelligence, when I worked on torpedo sonar for the UK's Marconi Underwater, after visiting Israel and getting repeated invites to dinner, when back in London, from a stranger...)

Paul, yes was implied.  This is the same method used by Acronis Active Cloning too to make a clone of an active / running Windows OS.

Not sure of any Acronis activity in Israel - they have offices in a number of different countries including Russia (USSR), USA and around Europe and Asia, so who knows?  I never got to Israel but was in Cyprus when the 6 day war erupted just across the water!  Haven't been into London for a few years despite living in commuting distance!

Thanks for the correction, Steve.

According to Wikipedia, Acronis is, as you indicated, all over the place, with dual HQs in Switzerland (corporate) and Singapore (global).

However, I read an article a while back that led me to think (wrongly) that they were Israeli:

"Acronis’ growing presence in Israel is the fact the country is a center of cybersecurity expertise and talent. As a result, the company plans to establish one of the largest R&D centers in the world focused on security in the new location." (I can't put the link in as I get told off each time I try, but you could google the first five words.)

The founders' names sound Russian and I believe there are a lot of ex-Russians and a lot of security software people in Israel - but clearly I got it wrong.
