Random Validation failures / File is corrupted.

Thread needs solution

Hi.

Another frustrated camper here. I am receiving a random validation failures over my backups.

I know about the possible memory issues, full check hard disks and cables errors, etc. and I have to say that I've checked my system and I found no memory or HD issues so far there's no issue regarding on the mentioned issues on my system this far. Also I tryied to validate the inconsistent backups from a bootable TI CDs finding "same difference".

Now, TI is not showing issues at all performing backups of 2Gb or 10Gb. The validation process after these backup files are great. I have a system backup file of 20Gb which the validation process sometimes passes, and other times shows the unfamous 0-0 error, file is corruptes or perfomes in green with no issues at all. This is wired I know but it is happening, so this is very inconsistent, and tired for me at this point.

Adding to what I've said the "file corruption" validation error is always present over backup files of 100Gb or more. I am using Windows 7 x64 Ultimate.

Can anyone share a wise and right advise here regarding this very well known and frustrated TI issue before I ask for a refund please?.

Thanks in advance guys.

Since this is one of the most common issues I've seen over TI, is there any good workaround for this issue or would be better to move to another backup solution?.

Thanks.

I'm assuming you are making your archive on another internal HD? If not try that since external drives are more problematic.

If it is an internal drive, are you able to remove half of your RAM and try it with one half and then the other half. Memory diagnostics are good but they don't typically run in the same environment with lots of buss traffic.

I'm assuming the RAM timings are being set using the SPD settings. If not, the timing may be a bit too aggressive.

I would make a new large archive with each test set of RAM since you don't know if the archive is written correctly since it has never valdiated. If it has validated then the odds are very good that the archive is OK but is not being reliably read.

A 100GB archive is not overly unusual but the amount of data compared to a few GB does make the odds of something marginal having an effect.
