Image restore using ATI2021 keeps failing

Thread needs solution

I am trying to recover a Windows XP system image made by a technician last year using ATI2020, I am using ATI2021 and when I try to recover the image file it almost completes until it stops and says "recovery has complete with errors" if I check the activity page it states "recovery to the original location failed due to a format/ resize error"

Prior to carrying out restore I try and validate the image and i get validation failed. "file corrupted"

As this file was created using ATI20 it is a .tibx file, I can only download ATI21 but its looking for same file format so That should make no difference

The drive I am using is 64Gb, the file size is only 5gb and its the original drive the image came off of, we had system black out and the drive got wiped so I re formatted the drive and it is working fine, I can copy paste files over to the drive and open them so I know the drive is fine.

The drive is being used on an old plc system as a Windows XP interface, so it has Windows XP installed on the drive.

Can somebody please help me try and restore this image as we really need to get this XP system back up and running

How are you performing the restore operation here for this XP disk backup?

Is this being done on another system from within Windows, or are you using Acronis Rescue Media to boot the XP system where the target disk is located?

The log file for the restore attempt will have more information on what the format / resize error is related to?

If using rescue media for the restore, then the log has to be captured before you exit from that media environment as is lost on exit.

If doing the restore from a running Windows system, then there are other considerations that can be in play here, i.e. what BIOS boot mode is that Windows system using and is that BIOS boot mode different to the mode used by the Win XP system?

Note: the BIOS boot mode determines whether the system is Legacy using MBR disk partitioning, or whether it is UEFI with GPT disk partitioning.  Acronis will convert the restored disk image to match the BIOS boot mode of the host system if this is different from the original XP system!
