If it's not running it may lie along safely, but once it's run, it doesn't matter where it originated from. Though it's unlikely that a piece of malware can alter (or append an incremental to ) a .tib file to infect its content, it can just delete them. Or encrypt.

Sorry but I was not clear,

I have not installed ATI in order to do incrementals or decrementals backups
I backup my entire system using the CD in order to create the .tib files
In the same External Hard Drive I backup application that I download from the web
IF any of this application is a malware could infected my .tib files?

It doesn't matter if you are creating this .tib files from boot CD and if they are fulls or incrementals.

Dev-anon is right.

It doesn't matter if the location of your TIB file is "close" or "far" from where you download apps from the Web.
If you download malware, it can infect any part of your computer, regardless of the file extensions, and can compromise your archive files.

This is why many users develop the practice of keeping a copy of the backup files on another disk, that is kept off line. It might grow old, and when it is too old for your comfort, you just replace the backup of the backup with a new copy.

Whenever you copy a TIB file, make sure you run a validation on it. Or use control software to ensure that the copied file is *exactly* a copy.
