Unable to Create Bootable Media. Acronis Offers to Make ISO On Hard Drive

Acronis WD Edition

When I try to make a bootable CD in Acronis under Tools and Utilities, the Acronis Media Builder wizard which states it's version as v.13.0.14010, defaults to selecting the bootable components of the Acronis products to be placed on the bootable media to be:

Acronis True Image WD Edition (Full Version)

Accepting that goes to the Bootable media options screen. Selecting the only option available there, Bootable media startup parameters, opens a command line parameter window

- What should be entered there?

Proceeding to Next goes to the Bootable media type selection. The only option I'm offered is

ISO image ISO image file

- What is an ISO image file?

- How will that help me in the event of a system malfunction or virus or malware attack?

- Is this ISO image supposed to get on the blank CD I have standing by, and if so, how?

Highlighting this only selection allows one to proceed via Next to the Destination file selection. It asks the user to

Select an existing ISO-file or create a new file.

and it shows me a list of My Documents and My Computer etc.

- What am I supposed to select here?

I cannot proceed to Next unless I pick something.

Hello Tom.

Thank you for posting. I will certainly help you with your question.

Most likely the WD version has a similar interface to Acronis True Image 2010 Home. We have a KB article that has a detailed guide for bootable media creation, you can find it here.

An ISO file is something like a container. If burned to a CD/DVD properly you will have a regular Acronis bootable disk. Please check this KB article for ISO burning information.

Please let me know if you have additional questions.

Thank you.
