Hard drive hooped. Acronis 11 can't read the TIB backup files...
My hard drive crashed last night. I have a full backup on an external drive.
However, since the hard drive is thrashed, I don't have access to Acronis Home 10 which is what I think I was running. I ran the Acronis recovery disk, but it throws the error that the TIB files are corrupt. The recovery disk is obviously from an earlier version than I was running for my current backups and therefore issues the error message.
I did buy the Home 11 upgrade but apparently it wasn't in use.
My current version was, if I recall correctly, Home 10, while the recovery is Home 9. So now I'm hooped. I think what I did was upgrade from 9 to 10 some time back, but there was nothing that made me aware that I also had to update the recovery disk.
How do I restore my backups? How do tell exactly what version was used to create the backup files? I can't locate any headers or other hints by looking at the TIB files. Also, assuming I was running Home 10, where can I get a copy that I can use to restore my system?
I appreciate your help,
Thanks
Fred

Thanks very much for the thoughtful reply.
Actually I am talking about Home 2009, Home 2010 and Home 2011. I believe the version running on the crashed drive is Home 2010.
Does that help?

Fred,
Yes, it does. Those versions have ISO files available for download from your Acronis account. Download the one(s) you need and create the CD(s). Windows 7 will burn ISO files directly. Otherwise, use any ISO capable burning program.
