"plugins" BartPE and safemedia
Hello guys
I have just been looking on the acronis website, and on the registered products link saw that you can download the plugins BartPE and safemedia.
I have read about the BartPE plugin, but do not fully understand it properly, so my question is do you download these plugins if it helps you, or as a relative beginner like me there is no need to.

Hello crowley,
Thank you for using [[http://www.acronis.com/homecomputing/products/trueimage/ | Acronis True Image]]
I would like to add some information about the safe version. The safe version does not include USB, PC Card, or SCSI drivers.
Recommended for use when problems running the full version occur. To add this version, you should download the appropriate installation file from Acronis web-site and then perform installation. After installation the Acronis True Image Home safe version will appear as one of the components to be offered by Acronis Media Builder for placing on the bootable media.
Thank you.

DwnNDrty wrote:The BartPE CD boots with windows drivers from which you can launch True Image after you go through the process to embed the plug-in into the BartPE CD.So as long as your standard Rescue CD works for all your hardware you do not need to make the BartPE one.
But could you if fact make both ?
One small thing , which i should mention is that when i do insert the rescue cd the first time the "pointer" will stick and you carn't do a thing, until you take the cd out and turn the computer of.
Then insert it again an its usually fine, but is this something to worry about or is this just normal.
Is it because it doe's not find the driver's the first time round

Sure you can make both .... you can make as many of them as you want - in case one gets lost or scratched. About the pointer being stuck, is this a usb mouse you are using?

It's not uncommon for Linux to have problems like certain errors, hang-ups, freezes, no mouse, etc. when warm-booted. It's not something to worry about as long as a cold-boot works okay. I have several computers like that and it's never caused any problems.
Having a BartPE or WinPE-based TI CD is usually a good thing. Many times, it's much faster than the Linux-based CD because it uses the Windows drivers. However, it can take longer on some computers to boot into BartPE/WinPE than TI Full.
I use TI in WinPE almost exclusively for the speed and the fact that I don't have to worry about drivers. Booting from an internal drive is extremely fast.

AR YES, i have just noticed that, it did stick again on a warm boot as you said, but is doe's not stick at all on a cold boot.
Thankyou for that mudcrab.....

I am not quite sure what happens here mudcrab.
I know i have to go to the acronis website to download the plugin, so do i then go to the acronis media builder and just follow the wizard.
And click on the BartPE component.
I have the downloaded version not the boxed, i could not see much information on this or the information was a little vaige.
So i was just checking on how you make one of these BartPE CDs after you have downloaded the plugin.....
As i say i do not actually need one with the TI rescue CD working fine, but at least i will know a little bit more about the product.....

It looks like i might be stuck creating a BartPE CD, as the opering system was pre-installed, so i have a recovery partition, so the PE builder carn't find any windows installation files.
So i did some searching anyway, and found that there aren't any installation files to begin with on my system.
All i have are the recovery discs
So if this is the case can i create a WinPE CD, or would i have the same problem.

Check if there is a folder named I386 right off the root (C). If there is, the files in it will be the installation files.

Nope DwnNDrty, there doe's not appear to be any such folder, i have just been told on another forum that there aren't any windows installation files, if your operating system was pre-installed, and you have a recovery partition.
At least on this model anyway..Toshiba satellite L300-1BV

So So Sorry Mudcrab, i've stuck a sticky note on the monitor to remind me of my spelling
So i should be fine with this MustangPEBuilder 2, if i was going to buy it, or would this also want the path to the windows installation files

Mustang PEBuilder 2 is the easiest way to get a Windows based recovery disk (or USB boot)
I use a USB memstick boot with Grub Dos to do all my drive backups . I can choose between the Linux TI, MustangPE or MustandPE2
You just make a new ISO when there is a new version of TI and add to the memstick and adjust the boot file so Grub Dos presents another option to boot from.
Simple

It doesn't need installation files. It uses the WAIK, which has to be downloaded from Microsoft and installed. The link is provided in the instructions.

OK Mudcrab, thanks "as and when" i might do that

I have just asked toshiba for the actual OS CD, which really i should be entitled to, as i could do with it really for these sort of things.
Alls they should charge me for is the shipping costs, i'll just wait and see.....

Just a thought ... check that you have Windows Explorer set to show "hidden" and "system" files/folders. That I386 folder may very well be there.

Sure, give it a whirl ... but I found that making the BartPE one easier than making the WinPE one. In fact I gave up on making the WinPE one since the BartPE one does just as well.

Yes just done that DwnNDrty, no such luck again, the nearest i got was a Source folder with a "WIM FILE" in there.
The Toshiba HDD recovery on the E Drive, is this just some sort of image of your system, and in case of a disaster you just restore that image through your recovery discs, "hence no installation fles".
So it looks as if i am stuck with this one, apart from the "mustang PEBuilder" or give the WinPE one a try

Hello mudcrab
Still stuck with this
I have just seen your web site, and thought i would try to create a vistaPE.
I have seen all sorts of web pages that have got me confused with winPE and vistaPE and what versions to download etc.
But looking at your site , the instuctions seem plain and simple, just what i like.
I still have the acronis TI 2009 plugin sitting in a folder , but have not done anything with it yet.
I have only looked at it breifly at the moment, and may have missed this, but if i do get stuck where would i post a question to

I recently installed ATIH 2011 build6696 and today updated to build6857 (both incl. the Plus pack and both via the WEB) under Win7 and for the first time used the product to created an image, etc. When creating a Disk with the Rescue Media Builder it still refers to build 6696, perhaps no changes were made to that utility. That disk however doesn't include any most likely needed Windows drivers. Based on Page 166 of the latest ATIH2011 userguide I just downloaded I am to be able ot Download BartPE, but all I can find available for download are my registered product ATIH and ATIHPP.
Anyone here can direct me? Thanks.
