Restore 'verify' requirement/time?
True Image Home 2010, 7,046
Recently I had cause to restore an individual file and then the drive which I aborted for the reason of this post.
On restoring the file (from my wife's computer across the peer to peer network) the restore required a 'verify' period of some (going from memory) 6-8 hours. When I later attempted a drive restore the verify period was an incredible almost 1 1/2 days and I aborted. Keep in mind that the nightly imaging + verify only takes several hours in total.
If I'm invoking verify as one of the options precedent to the image creation why then is the restore verifying?
Is this verify normal?
Is there not a way to minimize the impact of the verify?

When restoring the single file I saw no way to stop the validating other than abort the process which I did not. The single file restore as I had mentioned took over 7 hours. Given that time frame, when the full disk restore reported that validating would take one day + I believed that the time was at least reasonably correct and aborted.
Is there an optional setting that I've missed that causes a validation on restore? I do have validation set for backup.
Thanks,
Mark

Check under Tools & Utilities > Options > Recovery options. There is a validation before recovery option that should be cleared (by default).

The option was checked and must have been the source of my problem.
Thanks!
