Unable to boot Dell Optiplex GX240 with ATI bootable media.
Hi,
I am unable to boot Dell Optiplex GX240 with ATI bootable media.
Hardware: Dell Optiplex GX240, BIOS 05.
The HDDs are on IDE Primary master and slave and are a Maxtor 5T020H2 20GB and a Maxtor 2B020H1 20GB.
The Chipset is Intel 82801.
Operating system: Windows XP Pro 32-bit.
Application: Acronis True Image Home 2011 updated to Build 6868.
I have created the bootable media using Media Builder. When booting from the True Image bootable media CD I get the following screens:
Starting Acronis loader.
Opening Menu.
I select the True Image (full version) option from the menu.
True Image splash screen.
Acronis logo in top left with the following text beneath
Loading please wait
No raid disks
Reading all physical volumes. This may take a while......
blinking curser for 10 minutes +.
I am unable to generate any reports as I can not boot the Optiplex from either Windows or the Acronis bootable media (report option non GUI fails at the same point, after "Reading all physical volumes").
I have tested the Acronis bootable media in a Dell Precision and it works. I have tried booting the Dell Optiplex using Knoppix 5 bootable CD and it works.
Please help, I have a dead machine that was relying on Acronis True Image to get it working again.
Thank you.

Hi Pat L,
Thank you for your reply.
Producing a BartPE (or WinPE) recovery disk sounds like a good option, however I can't access the plugin. When I originally installed ATI all seemed to work OK (It did the disk images without a problem) and so I did not get round to registering my product, just kept applying the updates. Of course all the original info is now locked away on the non-bootable PC. Is there any other way of getting the plugin?
Regards.

You can contact Acronis to get your serial number and register.
