New Install tells me there is an old one - not true!
bought latest TIH 2011 yesterday for my wifes laptop, got serial and downloaded prog. tried to install, it immediately says that the installed version is already the latest one (in german: Sie haben die aktuellste Version ...), and breaks off.
problem is: there is no previously installed version!
I certainly cannot find one, and also dont think there ever was.
so what does the install object to? how to find out, and what to do?

done, nothing there but a WD ALIGN (which is also ACRONIS but has nothing to do with TIH.

have, no. had, very unlikely.

is that not the one for ver2011 only? where have i heard it damages things if used when an older version was there? or will simply not work with older ones? because if there really ever was, it would/might have been a test or demo version of 2008/2009 - my wife refuses to remember. and i for sure cannot trace any leftovers.

If you know TI has not been installed before, then everything points to WDAlign (Acronis) as being the cause. Why not un-install and see if that is the solution.
As for cleanup on your version, only Acronis support can answer. The "Live chat" option would probably be the quickest response.

have cloned the HDD, and work with that copy. so i cannot damage much.
ran CLEAN-UP, and WDAlign un-installed. now TI starts installing, till the very end. even puts icons on the desptop. and then, right at the end, it starts de-installing everything, removes the icons, the progress bar goes negativly back, and it ends up with an error box like here in the attachment.
think i have installed 1000++ progs in my life, never seen so much hassle as with TI - whats the point? it is not a multi-million-$$$ prog that needs to be protected left, right and center, no? i have bought and paid for my copies and updates, at least three times over as many years - but now i do understand why people turn to bootlegged and cracked copies that install without a hitch, never asking for this and that.
simply not fair to a well-meaning customer.

That's normal,
ATI always looks for the latest update when it shall be installed. There is another clickfield in the installation window to install the program after the check has been done. Its at the top of the list!

nobbi, you only read the first post? the installation runs (yes, using the first click-window on top), but never finishes (see screenprint above).

As Grover H said you are better off contacting Acronis support. They can easily look at your installation log and tell you what is wrong.
