Backup size invalid

Thread needs solution

I just completed a backup and I am not sure if I can trust it. The disk backup when it started was 384g. When the process completed the Acronis "My Backups" shows the proper date but the backup size is 692.56 GB.

This is not possible, the drive is not that big. How do you get this erroneous information fixed. It is hard to trust software this important when it reports erroneous information. How do I get this fixed?

Michael,

The backup size displayed in My Backups has no impact on the functionality of the product. It is supposed to be the total size of the backup files that ATI is tracking in the database for UI purposes.
I don't know of any to fix the issue except deleting the backup task and starting a new one, but this will just reset the counter. If your backups validate correctly, you can safely ignore any issue with this number.

Michael,
Your attachment shows your August backup to be of the correct size 381GB. The normal size would be about 60-70% of used space for the backup area.

Inside the task, click on the "Explore and Recover" option. This will show what backups are included in the 692 figure. Perhaps you edited the task and two backups are involved.

If you have not done so within the past several months, it is also a good practice to check your source disk for disk errors which would be carried into your backup if they exist at time of backup.
