Will restore of a clean image backup eliminate a root kit?

Thread needs solution

Assuming you have a known good image backup from before the root kit - let's say it was made when you had a nice weekend free (which I just had this last weekend after I bought a new copy of TI-Home 2011) and you completely installed your system clean from a Full Retail Windows 7 disk (which I have since I built my own gaming box from scratch). If I were to get a root kit, and then recovered a full HDD image (all partitions including the MBR) using TI - can I get the piece of mind of knowing that would guarantee the elimination of any root kit on the drive?

Restoring an image allows you to completely erase a disk and then restore the data that was on the disk at the time of the backup. So yes, it will get rid of the rootkit if this rootkit is not in the image.
