Does ATI 2011 backup WIN7 restore point?
I don't normally have system protection, restore points, turned on. However, I did not turn them off in a new machine, and noticed that an ATI 2011 full system backup was far larger than can be accounted for with the visible files. As an experiment, I turned system restore off, and the next full backup was the size I expected. I turned it on with my laptop, and the full backup ballooned to a size which was consistent with the actual files plus the space set aside for restore points. Is there a way to get ATI 2011 to ignore the space set aside for restore points, if that is indeed what is going on?

Mark,
Thanks for the help, and pointer. It seems an odd default, though.

Not to me it doesn't. What does seem odd is the backup of pagefile.sys and hiberfil.sys which take alot of space and at least the way I do backups aren't useful afaict (I backup only from a separate boot disk & process).

tomf:
Pagefile.sys and Hiberfil.sys are automatically excluded.

Yeah I see this now and confirmed in another thread, but thanks.
Still, I like Restore Points as they have saved my butt on numerous occasions, and recently learned that Restore Points and the whole business of Shadow Copies are complex enough that I don't think excluding them from backups is prudent. Either use Restore Points and/or limit the size-on-disk, but don't tinker with them re ATI exclusions.
