Cannot backup to NAS

Thread needs solution

Using the trial version of ATIH2012, I can't backup to my NAS. I click on "browse" at the destination screen, I double click on the "NAS Connections" icon expecting to view and select my shares on my NAS, but nothing appears, as if my NAS is not discovered.
I am running W7 64-bit (fully patched) and my NAS is the Synology ds2411+ running DSM 3.1-1760. I would appreciate any help.

Can you unfold the network folder and see your NAS from there? If not, can you enter the full UNC path of the target folder?

No, I can't unfold the network folder and entering the full UNC path manually does not make any difference. I get an error message that the specified path does not exist.

Hi There

I have the same problem with an synology nas
following is just a copy of an other post from me. please excuse.

"Try to dismount all your shares under windos. After that it was possible for me and some other with the same problem to edit all my old tasks and to create new tasks targeted to my nas (via "network environment"/"your nas drive/....")." MEans after dismountig i was able to unfold the network.

Maybe a work around till acronis fix it:
If your familiar with ftp: so far i had no problems to create/edit tasks to my nas via ftp even if windows shares are mounted.

Another thing that just comes in my mind. MAybe its only realted to W764 bit. At least ferrograph me and you seem to have W7 64 installed. From ferrograph i am waiting for an answer if he also has an synology.

Hi S22, thanks for your answer and for taking the time to reply.

I don't have mapped network drives to my shares. Even if I did, the proposed solution from Acronis they gave to you, would not be satisfactory in my opinion. I'm not about to change the way I work for ATIH's sake. This is obviously a bug; if they fix it or provide a patch, that's fine, otherwise I'll just move on to a product which supports NAS devices better than ATIH.

It would be interesting to see though if this is a Synology specific issue or a generic incompatiblity between ATIH and NAS devices.

Hi Nikos,

sorry for the missunderstanding . to use ftp is not an ACRONIS proposal. Thats only the way i am working with the program right now.

By the way Acronis did go in contact with me quite fast and is analyzing the problem.

Its not a generic ATIH-NAS problem. ATI2012 works without ayny problems with my oldD-LINK DNS 323 . Not sure if its really (or only) a synology nas problem. I Tried to start a colection of some statistic about that problem some therads below but so far no response.

I just remember that quite a few people with similar problems seem to have an synology nas.

For those experiencing the same problem, you might want to try the following. Instead of using the hostname of your NAS, try the IP address instead. This worked for me...

Hello,

I tried it know for more days.
For me it works with the UNC path over the ip adress, too.
