ATI 2012 Issues. Help Please.

Thread needs solution

Hi, I just upgraded to true Image 2012 from true Image 2010.

1st off, I have tried simply upgrading, and removing 2010 and installing 2012 clean. It didn't make a difference either way.

Installation (both ways) was easy. But Im having a couple issues and hoping someone can help. perhaps Im missing something obvious.

1) Is there any possible way to set a custom "Default" save location for backups like in 2010?

2) After integrating & choosing back & REcover from the Control panel, I see that its showing Acronis there now instead of Windows backUp.

However, nothing seems to work.
--It shows a backup there, yet says "Not backed up yet"
-- Theres a Backup and Recover option but...
Choosing the "BackUp" Option does nothing.
Choosing the "Recover" options gives error ((Given URI is Empty))
--If I attempt to open loction it says it can not find %1

I have made a new backup from within ATI and it seems to be fine.

3) It sorts Backups by date, time, etc however I choose. However, adding backups that were made from v2010 get put at the top of the list, regadless of date and time created.

4) ATI 2012 is hanging up often.
When right clicking and looking for a previous version of a file.
When clearing the log etc ...

Also, I have checked the screenshot option yet it still fails to make one. WhatAm I miising here?

So far these are what Ive run into, if anyone has a solution I would be much appreciative.
Im almost thinking about going back to 2010 sadly :( Much more stable for me.

Excuse me if you think this is inappropriate and I'm hijacking your thread, but given that this software is new and I've just downloaded the trial version ahead of the full version I think it is useful to collate the issues.

Like you ATI 2012 constantly hangs and I've crashed it several times. Additionally.
1. I attempted a Sync with a network folder and local folder and it just doesn't work - it creates the job but no files have synchronised.
2. I've attempted to do a file back up and it simply doesn't work! No folder tree is visible in the pop up screen that defines the task. Yes that is correct there is simply no way to select a folder, drive or file.
3. I've upgraded from V2011 and I successfully executed a backup of the system drive just prior to the upgrade. Now that backup job is showing as last run on the 17th July! HOwver, I've just run it again from within ATI 2012 and it seems fine.

No diresepct to Acronis, but the last 2 versions of ATI have been incredibly buggy (in fact I skipped 2011 on my main machine because it simply didn't work very well with file backups), and I don't understand how this one has been released aafter a beta program and is not fit for purpose.

I've got a recent install of Windows 7 Professional 64bit on a hex-core machine with 8gb of ram so performance is not going to be an issue.
Any help and insight would be very much welcome.

Well, if you want to learn from history and not be doomed to repeat it, you will realize that every version of Acronis that is released if buggy. If you are smart you will put valor aside and let somebody else find the problems and wait for at least the first bug-fix release before you install it.

Based on my experience this is the way it has been from every version since I got involved with TI at the release of version 9 about 7 versions ago now.

The URI is empty problem was supposed to have been fixed.

I think the 'hanging' might be 2012 searching the database. I haven't downloaded the release version yet, so can only speak with reference to the beta.

Sync takes a little while to kick in, does it still fail if you manually force a sync?

Im hoping these bugs get fixed. I personally havent tried the sync option.
If they can get some patches out soon all will be well again, but as of this moment I am rather disappointed.

By the way, I just noticed something else that seems to be missing.
Wheres the "BAckup" option f4rom the right clight context menu?? 2010 I could right click a folder and choose backup to launch Acronis.
Did they drop this feature or am I missing something simple here?

Use this program at your own peril. I have similar problems with 2012. Upgraded from 2011 - that product was buggy, frequently crashed or just hung. Had repeated problems with 'archive is corrupted' messages for incremental backups although full image backups went fine though. I was hoping that the 2012 version would fix some of the problems with 2011 and if it did, it would be worth the upgrade price. No such luck. Second time I fired up 2012, it crashed. Other times it hangs on calculating the restore time and just goes unresponsive. Others it can read and display the files from one partition, but not from the other (C & D drives). We'll see if support can get this working, but doesn't look promising.
