Bad Install

Thread needs solution

I downloaded and installed Acronis True Image Home 2012 to update version 2011. Of course, the download is the complete program, but probably because I was updating I installed over version 2011 - bad mistake! My computer kept locking up and when I activated the Acronis Startup Recovery Manager it somehow damaged my Master Boot Record and I could not reboot. It took me one whole afternoon and evening to sort out the mess.

I did try uninstalling version 2011 but I think the damage had already been done, In the end I had to restore an earlier backup using my Acronis
Recovery Boot Disk. This restored version 2011 and now my computer is
working properly again. I should probably try re-installing version 2012
again but I will wait and see if anyone else has any problems with it.
It has cost me too much time this weekend!

I couldn't get it installed either. I had chat with acronis TECH he said I had to have my old version installed first. So I installed the old version and then installed 2012 over the OLD version without problems. Only problem I have with 2012 is it BREAKS my XT 16 gig thumb drive. The XT refuses to work with Acronis 2012 installed....go figure.
