RedHat 6.1 64bits Agent issue

Thread needs solution

Hi,

I just installed the linux agent of Acronis Backup & Recovery 11 Advanced Server into a RedHat 6.1 64bits, and I discovered a big issue.

After agent installation, acronis removed the link that points the /etc/rc.d/init.d from /etc/init.d and at it's place acronis created a new directory containing only the startup scripts of acronis.

After the server reboot, it won't work anymore, than I booted server with rescue linux and saw that /etc/init.d was override by acronis, inside the /etc/init.d I found only the startup scritps of agent linux.

Why it happens? it's a bug?

Regards,

Danilo

Hi Danilo,

Thanks for you comment. I actually do: Development team actually never heard about this issue, so right now I'm creating the case for you, and escalating it to the Testers team for reproducing.

It might take a while, but you will be able to monitor the case status in your account here.

I will also send you a follow-up message from the case.

Thank you in advance for cooperation.

Hi,

I discovered the problem.

This occured with a linux server that had an early version of acronis installed (9.5), after upgrade in-place this agent to 11.0, then the problem occured.

I installed a new server from scratch on my lab, and then, installed the version 11.0 , no issues.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Danilo!

Thank you very much for the update, this information is really important. I've forwarded it to the Development team, we need check the ABR compatibility with older versions then.

Thank you once again for cooperation and keeping us posted, I really appreciate it.

Update:

Development team reproduced the issue and found it's cause:

The problem is actually not related to the ABR11, but to the Acronis True Image Echo that was installed on the machine before.

Before ABR11 gets installed, the uninstallation of ATI Echo is started. It actually removes the /etc/init.d. If you start the uninstaller manually the result will be the same.

As a workaround we would advise to the following:

  1. Uninstall ATI Echo
  2. Make sure that /etc/init.d is not present
  3. Create the link manually:
    cd /etc/
    ln -s rc.d/init.d init.d
  4. Proceed with the ABR11 installation

We're also working on creating a KB article related to this issue.

Unfortunately this problem will not be fixed, as it's related to the the product which is considered to be outdated and no longer supported.

Please let us know if you have any questions, concerns or feedback, we will be glad to address them.

Thank you
