Backing up to USB Drives

Thread needs solution

Have version 2011 and are attempting to backup 200gb to a usb drive's
The usb drives are 80GB by using a few 80 GB drives I have spare and replacing the drives when the software indicated it was full, set all the backup options correct and set the file size to automatic
Backup started all ok and backing up to the First usb drive checked at 40%
Came back later to check and it had stopped indicating that the user had cancelled

Any advice would be appreciated
Have tried this a few times maybe the usb drive can not be set to a removable dive

O/S is XP Pro with 4gb of ram

The message that the user had cancelled might be reflecting that another error message timed out. What is the log saying?

The log indicates that the disk is full and then terminated by user

as I am only at the PC for shorts times in the day is it timing out waiting for a response ?

Can the software be configured to wait till a key is pressed to continue with the operation of backing up

as I am not able to stay looking at the screen for the lenght of time to backup via the usb sata docking station which indicates a 3hr plus time
this is a part copy of the log

The Log is not copying and Pasting
very good but will try again

The timeout settings can be found in the upper right corner of the screen--inside some of the help area. In the 2012 version, there are additional error handling options inside the Disk Backup options.

If you are getting a disk full error message, I would also suggest you consider using a different cleanup option. Start a new task and choose the custom option to keep only x number of backups with x diff or x inc. Create new backup name and point to a new backup folder.

Barry, looking at the time stamps in your log, it doesn't look like there is a timeout issue.
Do the backups from the recovery CD succeed? If yes, that would point to a windows installation issue. Uninstalling, rebooting reinstalling might solve the issue.
If the backups don't succeed from the recovery CD, try another USB disk or destination to see if we have a hardware issue. Of course, if no backup can work from the recovery CD, it doesn't mean no backup could work from Windows. But it is still worth the process.

USB Drive Backup

Has I mentioned before why there is a disk full message I am trying to backup
A 200+ GB drive with spare 80 GB drives in a USB sata docking station and swapping
Them when full
Have re-installed and remove a few times
and tried on other PCs
and the docking station works ok with other programmes

When using the CD programmes the swapping of the usb drives is not recognised
This only works is the windows environment
Only doing a full backup routine
and re formatting them when I need to take anothe backup

But will try a backup with a increase in time out
