Assigning labels to backup locations

Thread needs solution

I have backups on an external drive, which isn't kept switched on. When I go back to the backup, the drive letter has changed and Acronis (TI2011) won't find it.
Is it possible to set the location to the drive LABEL rather than letter?

One option that usually works is to assign a specific drive letter to the external such as either x or y or z. Assign a drive letter at the end of the alphabet so the insertion of camera or flash drives, etc does not interfere.

Acronis does not use volume name but I do include the drive letter as part of the external disk volume name so it is easy for me to compare to make sure that Windows is using the correct drive letter. One example might be
X-640
which tells me the drive letter I assigned is x and the disk size is 640. Adjust to your needs--up to 11 characters in name.

In Explorer or Windows Disk Management is an easy method to assign the volume names.

Once you assign the name to the drive, then adjust your task to match. I prefer to start a new task rather than edit an old task.
