Scheduled Backup Failure

Thread needs solution

I have set up scheduled incremental backups. Back up is failing with following note in the log.

Scheduler failed to run task because of error 87 ( scheduler has received a request with an invalid parameter)

A manual back up works fine

Product - Acronis True Image Home 2010

Any ideas how to fix?

Most probably the issue is related to some error in the scheduler, which is responsible for running tasks. I would advise you to do the following: 

  1. Download Scheduler manager and save it to any suitable location
  2. Open command prompt (Start -> Run -> cmd);
    Type cd {path where you downloaded it}
    Type "schedmgr.exe"
    Type task zap
    This will erase all the tasks (but not the backups)
  3. Update the Scheduler according to this article
  4. Recreate the tasks
  5. Check, whether the issue remains

If it's present, please gather

  • AcronisInfo Utility output
  • schedul2.log
    (instructions available in the Scheduler Update article)

and either paste it here or contact me via PM with the diagnostic information.

Meanwhile, have you tried deleting the task (move any existing backup files to another location first) and then create a new task?

Sometimes a task just goes wonky and a new task will be fine.
