Trouble backing up VMs on Cluster Shared Volumes
I'm running 2 x Windows 2008 R2 servers in a cluster, using Cluster Shared Volumes to house my live VMs. I have installed Backup and Recovery 11 Virtual Edition, which states that it support CSV's, on one of my cluster hosts. When the VM backups run I get this warning in the event log:
A backup application initiated a VSS snapshot on Cluster Shared Volume 'Volume2' ('Cluster Disk 3') without properly preparing the volume for snapshot. This snapshot may be invalid and the backup may not be usable for restore operations. Please contact your backup application vendor to verify compatibility with Cluster Shared Volumes.
Also, I have had backups fail and leave this CSV in a 'redirected' state. The only way to fix this is to run Microsoft's Diskshadow command line utility to remove the VSS snapshot that has been created.
Can you let me know how to fix this and/or if this version actually does support CSVs?
Any help would be much appreciated.
Pete
