Re. Cloning and Upgrading Laptop Hard Drive

Thread needs solution

I have a new larger hardrive for my laptop which is a Dell running Win 7 32 bit. I have followed the instructions from the Knowledge base which states that you need to place the new HDD in the laptop and connect the old one via USB, then boot from Acronis. This I did, Acronis boots up, I select install full version, but Acronis then comes up with the following error message: "Home has detected unsupported hard disk drives ..... Home does not support Windows Dynamic disks, EZ-Drives, etc."
Problem is that my existing hard drive is Basic and not dynamic and the new hard drive is simply a larger SATA (WD Caviar Black). Any ideas please?

What version and build of TrueImage Home

Size of new Caviar?

One alternative might be to use Windows 7 and create a small partition on the new disk. Any size will suffice and the new partition does not have to be formatted.

Then retry the clone with the new disk inside the computer.

Thanks for the prompt response GroverH. Apart from it being TrueImage Home 2012 I don't know what build it is - How do I find out without installing it? Also, the new disk I wrongly stated as being the WD Caviar Black - it is rather a 320Gb WD Scorpio Black.

Also, I'm not sure how I would create a partition on the new HDD?
