Blue Screen after cloning drive
I've successfully (I think) cloned a 160 GB drive to a 1TB drive and both drives look identical. When I removed the original 160 and just have the cloned 1TB in, I get a Blue Screen error C000145 upon boot.
The original drive still boots fine when I put it back in. I used the 2010 boot disc to clone the drive and it said cloning was successful.
In the BIOS (old Dell) I've made sure the drive is seen and it is. No matter what order I put the drive in....SATA 0 or SATA 1, it doesn't boot to the clone drive.
Does this mean the clone was unsuccessful? What else can I try?
Thanks

Thanks for this info. Since this is an old system, and we're not at all interested in keeping the Dell partition, what if we just deleted that partition entirely? Would that make it work?

I posted on the Dell site asking about the partitions and was told "There are two extra partitions, one for the diagnostics and one for the OS restore. It's impossible to clone the entire drive, so you need to clone just the system partition."
I'll try that and see what happens but I'm pretty sure that's what I did the first time.

That makes sense. You can do a disk and partition backup of the whole thing, but restore only the partition you need. You may have to use the Windows installation CD to repair the start up though, if you don't restore all the partitions.

Thanks, I might try that though it's XP SP3 and we only have the original XP disc. Dell sure doesn't make this easy.
