Universal restore without restoration?
I have two questions regarding the boot media process. I am using Backup and Recovery 11 Server.
1) Is it possible to install other disk controller drivers without actually performing a recovery operation? I find it redundant in my case to perform a backup and restoration procedure when moving to new hardware.
2) In the boot media menu, where it gives you the "recover", "backup" options, there is a universal restore button. Then I click it, nothing happens. Instead I'm prompted with a message describing the universal restore process when the majority of the screen blank and the OK button grayed out. And as I wait, nothing happens. I added my appropriate disk controller drivers in the boot media creation wizard for the new motherboard I'm installing, and the part of the boot media menu is always blank. What purpose does it have? I know the KB says that to use the universal restoration, I have to perform the recovery process; I'm curious if there's a way to perform the driver updating without recovering.

In the boot wizard, it says the file system is NTFS. When I go to backup, it lists the hard disk and partition, the tree view does not expand further to explore the files, if it's supposed to that is. But there is no option to explore the hard disk. Also the system I am restoring is Windows Server 2008 R2 x64

There is a triangle near word 'disks/volumes' above the tree - it's a dropdown list, where you can select 'files'. But it's most likely irrelevant as the disk is apparently detected by bootmedia.

Well I got everything sorted out. I did more trial and errors on a VM and just needed to make my OS detectable, as the KB suggested. When migrating to new hardware the hard disk it's IDE device Id didn't match, so I couldn't even get to the Windows loading screen. I simply went into Windows Recovery and went into the console and updated the loader to update all bootable partitions on all volumes. I used "bootsect.exe /nt60 ALL /mbr", then windows recovery actually listed my operating system, and in turn Acronis showed me options in the Universal Restore menu.
