Changes to existing backup "Failed to deploy task" along with multiple event codes
I have an existing backup that has been working, but not exactly as I'd like. When I try to edit the settings and I save the changes, I get an error telling me "Failed to deploy task." along with multiple error codes (see attached file).
I made sure the Acronis Scheduler2 Service is running.
I have a Win7 64 bit machine.
Thanks,
John

John,
Uninstall ATI, reboot and reinstall it. Create new tasks.
Non related to your error, but as a good practice, if you want to change the backup name, destination, scheme or retention rules, create a new task with a different name. That might save you some trouble or confusion when you want to restore.

Hi Pat,
I can see what you are saying about 'good practice' to recreate backup tasks when changing settings, but shouldn't the software either 1. work when I change settings or 2. stop you from changing the things that break it?
I too had similar issues and had to come here for help.

Mark,
I agree with your thought on what the software should do.
When you had a similar issue, did you get the same advice to uninstall and reinstall?
Thanks,
John

Pat,
Thanks for your suggestion. I will try it, though I was hoping for a less drastic solution.
WRT to your thoughts on "good practice", would you recommend creating a new task when I simply want to change the schedule of the backup? After re-reading your post, I don't think that is your meaning. You are saying that when significant changes are desired for a task with existing backup data, one might save some future confusion by just creating a new task.

Pat,
I uninstalled and rebooted and reinstalled.
I searched for my old backup and recreated the backup task. I scheduled it for 2:30 am, daily.
Then, to see if it worked, I edited the task and changed the time to 2:35 am.
I got the same "Failed to deploy task" error.

John,
Editing the schedule shouldn't be a problem.
You have a problem with the scheduler it looks like. Download the schedule manager here:

uninstall and reinstall the service.

Hi John,
No, I did not the advice to reinstall, simply to create a new backup task and remove the old backup files when they are sufficiently old enough to not need them any more.
