Acronis True Home Image 2009 not working.
When I try to perform a backups all I get is 'initializing'. It stays that way for at least 30 minutes before I give up.
Should I uninstall Acronis and reinstall it?

IF you've been running the program for a while without probs, then it's probably a corrupted program file in ati and you should follow Grover's guidance.
If this is a new install or you've had the probelm since you installed ati, or since installing other programs, then, the repair install ins a good start. However, if the repair doesn't help, then try using msconfig.exe to disable all nonmicrosoft services and all startup programs (except for Acronis True image), reboot and see if the problem persists. If not, then the prolbem is a conflict between ati and one of the programs or services you disabled. Selectively adding them back one by is tedious but will let you know which one is conflicting.
An easier method of tracking down the problem would be contacting Tech Support with a system report file, but with such an old version, Acronis won't be supporting it anymore; they've moved on to ati2012.

Tried to follow the advice but as I had previously installed an update patch it could not proceed to repair. I used Windows Add or Remove programs utility to uninstall ati and it seems to have worked fine. I'll probably just buy the latest version which sounds good.
Thanks for your help.

Steven,
Before you install any other programs including TrueImage, use your 2009 TI bootable CD and make a full backup of your entire system disk. This will give you something to go back to if you have a need. This will take additional time but is a necessary precaution.

If you were happy with the program before, I'd try the uninstall/reinstall route before laying out money for ati2012. The new version won't necessarily be trouble free so if there's a relativley easy fix for your issue without spending money, that might be the way you want to go.

Steven,
Also, check carefully that your firewall or anti-virus or your anti-malware programs are not blocking a proper response for your system. You may need to adjust some "anti-" programs to let them know that its "OK" for TrueImage to run their programs.

Had not made any changes to firewall or anti-virus or your anti-malware programs so don't think that would have been the problem. Ended up uninstalled Acronis and have just reinstalled it. It seems to be working fine so I'll stick with 2009 version for now.
Thanks for your help.
