ATI 2010 deleting old files

Thread needs solution

I am new to this so appologize if I am in the wrong place. I have ATI 2010 on an XP computer. I am backing up to an external drive, but the drive is almost full. How do I safely delete the files and start again? I have looked on many different sites, but do not find a step by step of how to do this. Should the files be deleted in ATI or windows explorer?

Also Acronis says my product is no longer supported, but it also says the support expires in February 2012, do I have support or not?

Thanks.

A recent change (last version or so), free product support expires 30 days after you buy/register the program, however, Acronis only supports the current version and yours is two versions old.  Since Acronis release a new version every fall, the most support (free or otherwise) that you can get from Acronis is 12 months.

RE deleting backups, per the userguide

http://www.acronis.com/download/docs/atih2010/userguide

Section 19.6, you can delete from within ati and that will update the ati backup-file database, so that's the best way to do it.

You also delete from within windows explorer but the ati database will become confused with eratic results in what it lists for backups and to which tasks they belong.

Ati 2010 and 2011 had an even tougher time keepig track of backup files than ati2012 so trying to ddelete form within ati is recommended. But note, deleting a backup and deleting an entire task are two diff things, if you dlete a task, you delete all backups that ati associates with the task.

Scott, thank you for the help I will try this at the weekend. Presumably the next time my set task kicks in it will back up everything to date.
