ATIH 2012 Windows PE 3.0 disk
Hello, i was able to create a win pe 3.0 ISO file.
1) The AcronisMedium.iso turns out to be a winzipfile. Is this correct?
2) What exactly do i have to burn on the cd?
* the whole path starting with c:\winpe_x86\ISO\AcronisMedium.iso? or
* c:\ winpe_x86\ISO? or
* c:\winpe_x86?
Please answer both questions.

.iso is a specific file type. No, it is not a .zip file. Perhaps WinZip can access it, I don't know, but even if it can it's not because it's a .zip file.
Any .iso burning software would burn the .iso to a CD-R or DVD-R. You do not need to open the .iso and select which files to burn. The entire .iso is used to create the burned disk.
Windows 7 includes built-in .iso image burning, so you don't even need a separate application. You just right-click an .iso and choose "Burn disc image".

Thank you RayG and Tuttle.
I removed WinZip from my computer and created a new ISO file.
I burned this one on to cd disk.
There is also a supplement for WIN PE from microsoft: WIN PE 3.1
Its optional and concerns WIN 7 SP 1.
Does any one of you installed this supplement?
If so, what are your experiences with the proces of installing it.
With regards,
Franswami

I haven't used Win PE, so I can't comment on it.
Try booting from the CD you created. If it works, if you are able to create backups and verify those backups, then you may not need Win PE.

Hello Tuttle,
I made the WIN PE for use on new hardware in the nearby future.
This saves me lot of hassle because i can implant my whole system without having to install all software again.
In my case this will take hours.

I have. But you do not actually "install" it. The supplement is just a bunch of files which have to be manually copied over the WIN PE 3.0 files. Instructions are on the Microsoft site:
http://technet.microsoft.com/nl-nl/library/dd349350%28en-us,WS.10%29.as…
I used a slightly different approach and "unpacked" the supplement iso with 7Zip, that saves burning the image to a CD first just to get to the files to copy. But if you are unsure just follow Microsoft's instructions.
I doubt if there is any benefit for the Acronis image using WIN PE 3.1 instead of WIN PE 3.0 however.

Thank you Henk.
According to the supplement info it is not actually needed for creating WIN PE on W7 SP1.
It works without it on W7 SP1.
I am not that experienced in handling the suplement files.
My experience with downloading and burning WAIK W7 is that i could not open it from disc.
At least i opened the WAIK from my downloads map with WINZIP (evaluation progr.)
Then i was able to install in the programs file and it works fine.
