Acronis True Image Home 2011 - Is it possible to restore an image from a smaller to a bigger hard disk

Thread needs solution

Hello,

I have an Acronis Image from the old hard disk of my laptop (640 GB). This hard disk is defect. The operating system runs slowly at the moment. I have to replace the hard disk.

Now I would like to buy a bigger hard disk.

1. Can I use the image from the old hard disk to restore the operating system (Windows 7 Home Premium) and all data to the new, bigger hard disk.

2. How can I do this?

In the menu there is "Clone Partition", but this seems only to help for existing hard disks, not images.

Regards,

Christian

Thanks for the response.

But I must not understand something. Unless the text associated with the referenced post is TOTALLY misleading, it has nothing to do with my problem (I am not trying to restore anything to anything at this point).

Did I miss something here?

My suggestion provided a way or method to place (restore) your existing system (using the *.tib backup) onto a new larger disk. If that was not your intent, then I was the one that mis-understood.

This was MY ERROR - and MY APOLOGIES.

I somehow ended up siubscribed to a post that had nothing to do with the post that I just made. Like I said - my error.
