Running Online Storage blocks local backups

Thread needs solution

I have set up Acronis TIH 12 for Online Storage. While the initial backup of this is running, any local backups I have also set to run are blocked and simply show "Preparing" & "Time left calculating".

I have to 'Suspend' the Online Storage in order to allow the local backups to run.

Is this normal behaviour? Or is there a way to allow both Online Storage and local backups to run concurrently?

Thanks for any help!

Hello Freded,

Welcome to our Forum, we're glad to greet you here.

This is a normal behavior, as all the tasks are ran by the same Scheduler component. Backup is a resource consuming process, so currently it's not possible to run two backups simultaneously in order to avoid CPU overload.

Should you need anything else or have any further questions - feel free to contact us at your earliest convenience, we will be happy to help you!

Thank you.

Hello Yana,

Thank you for your prompt reply.

I'm glad to hear that my problem is caused by normal behaviour of the Acronis software - I was afraid it was due to my ignorance!

I have another question pertainig to the Online Storage process: As it takes a (very!) long time to upload the initial backup, is there some way of 'pausing' the backup so it can be resumed later without it having to start from the beginning again? Since, as I now know, two backups cannot be run simultaneously, my local incremental backups cannot run at their scheduled times if the Online backup is running... Does the command "Suspend" just 'pause' it or 'stop' it completely so that it has to begin again from 'square one'?

One more question about error messages: I have just received an error message saying "Failed to open Data Stream", so I followed the links to Windows Process Explore, which I downloaded and ran. WPE told me that Windows Explorer was running at the time of the error. As Explorer is always running when Windows is running, I don't know how to interpret this message. It is also interesting that running a Validate on this 'failed' backup says that "The backup is valid" - does this mean that this particular error message can be safely ignored?

Thanks again,

Mark

I posted a question on 27 March but have not had a reply to date...

Is there something I am doing incorrectly?
