16GB USB Mass Storage Devices Not Detected.

Thread needs solution

I have installed the USB drive fix KB 26062 on two of my machines (WIN7-64 runing ATIH 2012 and VISTA-32 running ATIH 2012) WORKED GREAT!!!
I have the exact same problem with a third machine (WIN7-64 running ATIH 2011) but the KB 26062 fix says it is for ATIH 2012 and ABR 11 only.

Can I do the KB 26062 fix on the ATIH 2011 machine?

If not, is there a ATIH 2011 fix for the ATIH 2012 KB 26062 issue?

I have three machines. Win7-64 running ATIH 2011, Win7-64 running ATIH 2012 and Vista-32 running ATIH2012.
All three had the KB 26062 issue "16GB USB Mass Storage Devices Are Not Detected (or slow detected)"
I ran the KB 26062 fix on the two ATIH 2012 machines and it worked! Problem solved.
Can I run the same fix on my ATIH 2011 machine?
The KB 26062 fix says ATIH 2012 and ABR 11 ONLY.
If I cannot run this fix, is there another fix that will work on my ATIH 2011 machine?

The virtual disk driver doesn't apply to ACronis 2011, so you cannot use it.

If I should not use the Virtual disk driver to fix the 16GB USB issue, can I use the SnapAPISetup.msi from the 26062 KB fix?

For the right snapapi, see here http://kb.acronis.com/content/1515

I went to http://kb.acronis.com/content/1515 and installed snapapi setup 586 (for ATIH 2011)
It did not help.
My 16GB USB still takes between 30 and 50 seconds to be recognized after plugging it into the computer.
Any suggestions on what I should try next?

This is definitely a driver issue, and I am afraid you cannot do anything to solve it yourself. Are you using Intel Rapid Storage Technology by any chance?

I hate to suggest this at this point, but:
- do a backup of your system,
- uninstall 2011,
- install the trial of 2012. See if that makes a difference.

Note: going back out of 2012 is not easy, so you will have to restore your system backup to go back to 2011 without too much trouble.

The 16GB USB works fine when I install the trial version of ATIH 2012 but only after I apply the KB 26062 fix for ATIH 2012.

Makes sense. Try 2012 further and make sure it fits your needs before the trail period is over, or your money back guarantee expires.

The trial version ATIH 2012 works fine. I made a full Disk Backup and it works. Not much more to say.

Make sure you create the recovery CD and recover a couple of files from your backup.

Are you going to upgrade then?

I'm trying out some other products first.
I started this thread on 3/24 and it is now 4/10.
That is fairly slow customer service.
