Make backup bootable is greyed out

Thread needs solution

I back up to an external G-Drive. I want to make the G-Drive bootable so I can boot the backup if necessary. Boot to backup media is greyed out. How do I fix this?

Are you talking about making a bootcd to run ati from CD (see section 8 of userguide) or making a backup onto a cd that can then be booted? If the former the grey-out is due to no CD in drive or you are using a trial version. If the latter, ati does not create backups onto media that are then bootable; you need to use the bootcd to run ati from a cd. Alternatively, you can start up a restore form within ati in windows and it will reboot into linux pretty much the same as if you had started from the bootcd.

Or are yo referring to this from the userguide:

8.10.3 Booting from a tib image of your Windows 7 system partition
As already mentioned, users of the Enterprise and Ultimate editions of Windows 7 can boot from tib images of Windows 7 system partition. This allows you to test bootability of the backed up system without actual recovery. Booting can be done only when running Acronis True Image Home 2012 in Windows.

Acronis True Image Home 2012 cannot make external hard disks bootable into Acronis recovery environment. This is why the box is greyed out.
You can try using the Grub4DOS method offered by MudCrab:
