Images on trial version

I'm using the trial version of Acronis True Image Home 2012. It appears to be impossible to create FIB images when booting from a CD created by the program. This is disappointing because creating such images is the reason I'm interested in the software. Could someone please confirm this is a limitation?

Is there any other (perhaps older) free version of the software that would let me create an image after booting from a CD?

Confirmed, you cannot perform backup operations with a bootable media created by trial version.
