Defragmentat Backup Files

Thread needs solution

Can the backup files genersted from backup disk, partitions, and files be safely defragmented by a disk defragmenter program such as Diskeeper or Defraggler, and then successfully used during recovery?

Welcome Mike,
Defragmentation of .tib files is not needed or recommended. You will receive no measurable benefit by doing so. I would however recommend that you validate your images, this is a much better use of resources.

How would I do the validation? I did not see any buttons in the top menu for doing validatio. This is an action I consider priceless.

Thanks,
However, it says " gear icon to open the Operations menu and select Validate."
When I select the gear in the upper right corner, the drop down menu only has "view log", "Integrate Acronis into Windows", "Customer experience Program", and "Timeout settings".
It is the double gear icon I need, but the instructions do not say that.

Thanks again.
Peace,
Mike G.

You can simply right click on the TIB file in Windows Explorer, choose the Archives context menu, and validate.

The gear menu we talk about above is the one on the backup task, not the ATI UI upper right one.
