ABR 11.5 Advanced Workstation - .lck files???

Thread needs solution

Hi there,

I have a Problem on some of my client PCs. Sometimes there are two .lck files in my backup folders, instead of my new backups. If I don't delete the .lck files, there are no new backups made (even for days, PCs are rebooting every day).
It's just stuck with this files. What could be the cause of this locked files and how could I solve it?
Sometimes I can delete them only after a PC reboot (I think they are claimed by the Acronis MMS).
Plan B would be, to include it in my pre-backup batch job (delete *.lck..), but as I mentioned - somtimes I need a reboot, which doesen't fit to my pre-backup batch-job.

Best regards, Bojan

Hello Bojan2013,

.lck files are used as indicators for processes that archive is already busy with another backup process and they shouldn't write to it. Normally these .lsk files are deleted immediately after backup is created.

To find out why it is not done in your case, we will need to start an investigation. Please reproduce the issue (backup cannot be created when .lck files are present) and gather the following information:

1) dumps of mms.exe and service_process.exe using ProcDump

procdump -ma -n 5 (herewith will be created 5 dumps in the selected directory)

2) process monitor log (let it run approx.15 minutes)

3) screenshots illustrating the issue

Thank you.
