ABR 11.5 Advanced Workstation - password protection - disable cataloging

Thread needs solution

Hi there,

fist I have created a plan without password protection for my archive and it worked fine.
Then I have edited the same plan and enabled password protection and my jobs failed (because I wanted to disable cataloging).
So I did changed it back and disabled password protection and my jobs failed again.

I've found out, the problem was the existing acronis .xml file from the archive.
The problem was the following tag in the archive.xml, which wasn't corrected via AMS:

1

So if i delete this .xml on the client pc or just edit it and change the flag again to "0", my backup plan works again.

If I shouldn't change a backup plans that way, this option should be disabled(?).
Why the plan changes didn't affect the clients?
Is this an issue?

Is there another way to disable cataloging (except form adding password protection to the archive)?

It's indeed impossible to successfully change password protection of the existing archives. If the plan is local, this options is hidden if archive already exists. For centralized plans created on AMS it's not possible to check if archive exists (an all machines where plan is deployed...) so the option can be changed. It's possible reduce cataloging level in plan's options (backup cataloging -> 'fast cataloging') so it will catalog only to disks/volumes details or turn it off completely in machine options for a particular managed machine, and it will not catalog its backups in unmanaged and personal vaults.

Thank you, I am using centralized backup plans. I have already had enabled the fast cataloging option, but I was curious, if I can fully disable it - without archive password protection (just to shorten my backup time a little bit more). I hope there will be an option to disable it fully in some update.
