Backup Linux Server

Thread needs solution

Hello,
I am tring to backup a Lunux Server. It is currently running Red Hat Version release 4. Lunix version is 2.6.9-82.ELsmp. Gcc version is 3.4.6 20060404, red hat 3.4.6-10.

I cannot update my Red Hat version because the software that I am running will not operate on a higher version. Will Acronis work on my linux server? 2nd question if can't, can I remove the hard drive and cradle it onto my Windows Server and backup it up using my Acronix for Windows. I just need a one time backup of this hard drive and not a daily or monthly thing. I just need to be able to restore the hard drive in case the original one fails.

Thanks.
Stephen

From system requirements ( http://www.acronis.com/en-us/support/documentation/AcronisBackup_11.5/i… ) -
Linux with kernel from 2.4.20 to 3.12 and glibc 2.3.2 or later
So it should be compatible.
For one time backup - backing up the disk it in other windows machine will work; you can also backup it up without moving the hard disk - booting the server with the acronis bootable media.

You can try the SCURE ZONE option also to back up the server to some hidden partition and if the system crash, you can F11 it and restore it from the local hard disk.
But' as Larin worte, use a boot media and backup it ones (save the bootable media and write down the acronis version that made the backup for restoring solution).
