Can a HDD with UEFI Secure boot and GPT partitions be mounted on a non-UEFI system?

Thread needs solution

I would like to know how to handle the scenario below:

A few laptops have Windows 8 with UEFI Secure boot and GPT partitions. Would like to remove HDD's and attach to Windows 7 non-UEFI system that has Acronis 11.5 Update 1 installed via SATA to USB adapter.

1. Can those Windows 8 HDD's be mounted on the Windows 7 system and explored?
2. Can those same HDD's be attched to the Windows 7 system via SATA to USB adapter and perform a backup of the Windows 8 HDD's?

I tried and cannot get it to work. Windows 7 does not recognize the HDD or at least it will not assign drive letters.

How can I create an image of the Windows 8 UEFI secure boot hard drive if the system I'm working on is Windows 7?

Below is the prompt I get when I access Windows 7 Disk Management with the UEFI HDD attached via USB adapter:

I have not initialized the HDD for fear of causing boot problems or data loss.

I also tried booting from the Acronis boot disk but it still does not recognize the drive.
