Cannot select Recovery Partition to restore

Thread needs solution

I am testing the effectiveness of a complete restore of a DELL E6400 machine.
This is a 64 bit Windows 7 machine that was backed up using Acronis 11.5 Workstation. The backup was successful and now I just want to restore back to the same machine. I can select all of the partitions except the Recovery Partition. Even though this is required, I cannot figure out how to select the partition. I keep getting the error "Cannot perform this action..cannot resize the volume". Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

FD

Hi there,

Was the original backup you took an disk based backup or a volume based backup?

If it was a disk based backup then just take the option to restore the entire disk instead of individual partitions, especially if its going back down to the same machine / hardware.

It was a volume based backup. I can select the c: drive to the c:--the fat16 to the fat 16 --the mbr to the mbr--but when it comes to the recovery partition (which is required), it will not allow me to select it because it is grayed out.

Thanks,

Bob
